A FAITH-FILLED, PROPHETIC WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

Have you ever stopped to think about what you are saying back to God? We know that prayer is talking to God, worship is expressing our love and adoration toward Him, and praise is magnifying who He is. But there is another powerful principle we need to understand: we can speak God’s Word back to Him.
When we do this, we are not trying to convince God to do something He does not want to do, nor are we manipulating Him with our words. We are bringing our words into agreement with what He has already spoken. God’s Word reveals His will, His promises, and His heart toward us. When we find a Scripture that applies to our situation, we can take that Word, believe it, and speak it back to Him: “Father, You said…”
This is important because our words can either agree with God or agree with the circumstances around us.
Recently, I received a text from someone concerning a medical situation. The person had been told by a doctor that the condition could only be monitored and that it would continue to get worse. As I read the message, I thought, “You have just prophesied death over your own life.”
The person was simply repeating what the doctor had said, but it made me think about how often we do the same thing. We receive a diagnosis, and we repeat it. We receive a negative report, and we repeat it. Someone tells us something will never change, and we begin saying the same thing. Before long, the report of the circumstance can become more familiar to our mouths than the report of God’s Word.
What if, instead of repeating the prognosis, we repeated the promise? What if, instead of continually describing what we see, we began declaring what God has said?
This does not mean that we deny reality, ignore symptoms, reject medical wisdom, or refuse appropriate treatment. A doctor can give us valuable information, and we should make wise decisions concerning our health. But the doctor’s report does not have to become our confession. God gets the final Word.
Find the Word That Covers Your Situation
There is Scripture that speaks to every area of our lives. When we are afraid, there is a Word. When we are discouraged, there is a Word. When we need provision, wisdom, protection, direction, or healing, there is a Word.
The problem is that we often know more about what our circumstances are saying than we know about what God has said. If we don’t know God’s Word, we will naturally begin agreeing with whatever voice is the loudest. Fear says, “This is never going to change.” God’s Word says, “With God all things are possible.” Lack says, “You will never have enough.” God’s Word says that He will supply our needs. The circumstances say, “There is no way.” God’s Word reminds us that nothing is impossible with God.
The answer is not simply to talk more positively. The answer is to talk more biblically. Positive thinking is based on optimism, but faith is based on God’s Word.
When we have a situation in our lives, we should search the Scriptures and ask, “What has God said about this?” Then we can begin speaking what He has said.
Whose Report Will You Believe?
Isaiah 53:1 asks, “Who hath believed our report?” That question is still relevant today. Whose report are we going to believe?
There will always be reports that contradict what we are believing God for. There will always be circumstances that look impossible. There will always be voices telling us what cannot happen and what will only get worse. The question is not whether we will hear those reports. The question is which report will have our agreement.
Going back to the medical situation I mentioned earlier, what if that person began searching the Scriptures for what God says concerning healing? What if, rather than declaring that the condition would continue to get worse, they began declaring the finished work of Jesus?
Isaiah 53:5 tells us that by His stripes we are healed. First Peter 2:24 points us to the finished work of Christ and says, “by whose stripes ye were healed.” So, ][[olkthe confession can change from, “My condition is going to continue getting worse,” to, “Father, I thank You for what Jesus accomplished for me. Your Word says that by His stripes I was healed. I choose to agree with Your Word.”
That is not pretending that a diagnosis does not exist. It is refusing to make the diagnosis the final authority. Faith does not deny the facts; faith places the facts underneath the authority of God’s Word.
Abraham understood this. Romans 4 tells us that he considered the circumstances of his own body, yet he did not allow those circumstances to determine what he believed about God’s promise. He became fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able to perform.
Don’t Prophesy the Problem
Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Our words matter.
When I say that we can “prophesy life,” I am not saying that we can create our own future independently of God or declare anything we want and make it happen. We should never put words in God’s mouth that He has not spoken. Instead, we can proclaim what God has already said.
We can agree with His promises. We can declare His truth. We can speak His Word over our lives and circumstances.
This is why we need to know Scripture. We need to have the Word in us before the crisis comes. Jesus demonstrated this when He was tempted in the wilderness. His response to the enemy was, “It is written.” Jesus answered the enemy with the Word, and we can do the same.
When fear comes, we can speak the Word. When sickness comes, we can speak the Word. When financial pressure comes, we can speak the Word. When our family is struggling, we can speak the Word. When we cannot see a way forward, we can speak the Word.
We don’t have to make up our confession. We can find our confession in Scripture.
Speak It Back to Him
I encourage you to begin building a Scripture bank for your life. Find Scriptures that cover the areas where you are believing God. Write them down. Study them. Meditate on them. Pray them. Speak them aloud. Let God’s Word become more familiar to you than the voice of fear.
Then, when circumstances begin shouting their report, answer with the Word. You can come before God and say, “Father, You said…”
“Father, Your Word says…”
“Father, You promised…”
“Father, I thank You that…”
God has not forgotten what He said. He does not need us to remind Him for His benefit. We speak His Word back to Him because we need to remind ourselves of what He has said.
When we do this, we are making a declaration of faith: “Father, I believe You. I believe Your Word above what I see. I believe Your Word above what I feel. I believe Your Word above what fear is telling me. I choose to agree with You.”
There will always be a report coming from the circumstances, but we have a choice about which report we will believe and which report we will speak.
So today, listen to your own words. What are you saying about your body? What are you saying about your family? What are you saying about your finances? What are you saying about your future?
Are you repeating the problem, or are you repeating the promise? Are you agreeing with fear, or are you agreeing with faith? Are you speaking what the circumstances are saying, or are you speaking what God has said?
Don’t prophesy the problem. Prophesy the promise.
Find the Scripture. Believe the Scripture. Pray the Scripture. Speak the Scripture.
When the circumstances give you a report, find the Word. When fear gives you a report, find the Word. When the enemy gives you a report, find the Word. And then speak it back to God:
“Father, You said…”
Our confidence is not ultimately in what we see, what we feel, what another person says, or what today’s circumstances look like. Our confidence is in Him. His Word is true, His promises are sure, and He is faithful.
So what will you say?
I choose to say what God says.
I choose to agree with His Word.
I choose faith.
I choose life.
What will you choose?
Based On Faith.
