A FAITH-FILLED, PROPHETIC WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

I’ve been sitting in my favorite rocking chair today having quiet time. It seems like there are certain times where I feel and see more into life, the wisdom of God, and hear from His voice through the silence. Sometimes I just sit quietly and feel the peace of God saturate my soul. Other times, I feel the urge to weep, but no tears come. Other times like today, tears pour out like cleansing drops down my face, but are offered to God in heaven.
There has been a lot on my heart this past week, from hearing of a family that died in a plane crash to rockets being launched at Israel from Iran. I have been praying for a person whose birthday is today that I don’t get to see as well as for someone I love very much who is going to be taking radiation soon.
In all of this, in my own way of processing life and hearing from the Lord, I clearly keep hearing for myself and for you, “You are NOT alone!” There is sometimes more of a load that we pick up and carry than we are supposed to be carrying. Just because we care and are empathetic and our heart moves for what moves God’s heart doesn’t mean we have to actually pick up the load to carry. It’s not our burden. Like a beast of burden, Jesus has walked up alongside us and is ever so close that we can just roll over what is on our backs onto His.
We aren’t built to carry those heavy loads. We certainly can’t do it alone either. I find that as I get older and have more life experience, I know more than ever before that I just can’t do it by myself. I have to have Jesus.
Not only are we supposed to roll over our cares and burdens on Jesus, it is very important for us to know that we aren’t alone. When we are struggling with carrying all that weight and the pressure, is too much on our physical bodies and mental capacity, we are left walking out our faith walk in a weakened state. We aren’t at capacity in terms of our ability to be strong, faith-filled believers. The enemy knows this and will try to throw everything at us to put us in a weakened position.
Have you ever had thoughts like:
I have to do everything all by myself.
No one else cares about me.
No one notices me.
I have too much on my plate.
I never get a break.
I wish someone would help me.
I’m always the person to reach out.
No one ever takes the initiative to see how I’m doing.
They’re calling because they need something from me.
These thoughts are from the enemy. Even if factually, they are true and no one helps you or calls you to see how you’re doing or you have too much for one person to accomplish, they are only facts of your situation. The point is that these are negative thoughts straight from the enemy to demoralize you, make you feel like you’re insignificant, and make you feel like a victim. The goal from the enemy is to wear you down so that you won’t be effective.
BUT…I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You are NEVER alone. Even when you feel your saddest. Even when you feel your loneliest. Even when you’re crying a river from self-pity. You are not alone. You are NOT alone.
The facts of your situation do not and cannot dictate the truth of your situation. There is one who sticks closer than a brother…one who will never leave you and never forsake you. His name is Jesus. I like the words in the well-known poem, “Footprints in the Sand.” It says:
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with
the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In
each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were
two sets of footprints; other times there was only one.
During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of
footprints, so I said, “You promised me, Lord, that you would
walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most,
have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one set
of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
Isn’t it beautiful how Jesus never leaves us. Even when we feel alone, those are only feelings, not truth. The truth is that Jesus IS with us even when what we see is one set of footprints. My friend, it isn’t your footprints walking alone. It’s Jesus carrying you in his strong, capable arms full of love. He loves you. He loves me.
As you walk through life on the faith journey, look back at your life. In the times you felt the loneliest and alone, look at the footprints. I’m confident that you’ll see evidence of Jesus’ love and faithfulness to you. When you don’t see two sets of prints in the sand, the one set you will see is not yours, it’s Jesus’. You are not alone. Based On Faith.
