A FAITH-FILLED, PROPHETIC WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

“Use your words!” said a young mother to her child who was squirming and whining trying to show that she was not content and needed something. I passed them in the store as the mother was trying to get her child to communicate to her with words instead of babyish sounds. The mother, so very lovingly and patiently, was encouraging the little girl to speak words that could be used to communicate needs, wishes, and desires. As I heard this young mother say these words to her child, I felt that this was a timely word for us as believers. It is a season, more than ever before to USE YOUR WORDS!
We are entering into a new year, a new season, a new month, and a new time. As we travel through this time living on earth, which I believe are the last of the last days, we must put special focus on our words. Words are powerful. God used words to create everything we see. God created the principal of using words and He used words Himself to create. He could have made the mechanism of creation to be anything, but He chose words. Since God is the Creator of this method and used it Himself, we should take notice and do it too.
The Bible tells us that words are powerful. We literally have the power of life and death by the words we choose to speak according to Proverbs 18:21. The old saying that “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is as far from the truth as it gets. Proverbs tells us the complete opposite. Words have the power of life and death consequences in our lives.
Not only is it our choice, but in Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV, we are told, as believers, what choice to make. “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
Now we know several things that are critical. Words have very important consequences – literally life and death. We know that we have a choice which words we speak. And we know what choice we are to make. We should choose life.
Choosing life means starts with what we put and allow in our minds. It is what we read, hear, and surround ourselves with. It is who we choose to engage in conversation and allow in our inner circle to speak into our lives. It includes the tv shows we watch and the movies we see and the books and magazines we read. It is the idle gossip that we participate in at work or on the phone with friends and neighbors. All of this matters because it is a choice – a very critical choice that forms our foundation of what we are thinking. What we are thinking is vital to our life because Proverbs also tells us that what we think in our hearts is what we are and are becoming. It is a continual harvest that we reap. If we want to harvest death, then we should plant death into our minds. If we want to reap life, then we must sow life into our minds. It really is very simple when we think of it this way.
What we think is what we instinctively speak out of our mouths. It is what naturally flows out of our mouth in a split-second response to a situation. I call it the law of first response. What you instinctively respond with in a fraction of a second demonstrates and is fruit of what is in your heart or mind. That is who you are and what you have become, according to Proverbs. It is what you have been thinking on and meditating on and you have become that very thing.
If you aren’t meditating on Truth which is found in and is the very essence of the Word of God, then the problem is that you are continually becoming something that is not Truth. You then speak something that is not Truth and the words you speak are either producing life or death, in this case death. This is not where we need to be at any point of our lives.
However, if you are meditating on Truth which is found and is the very essence of the Word of God, then you are and are continually becoming something that is Truth. You then speak Truth and the words you speak are producing life or death, in this case life. This is where we all need to be every day of our lives, especially in the days in which we are living.
Proverbs 13:2 KJV tells us that “A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth…” When we put Good in, Good comes out. Of course, God IS Good. God equals Good. He IS the very truest substance and the source of Good. As we enter into this New Year and new season, let’s choose to produce Good by the words we speak. Let’s choose life like we are instructed to in Deuteronomy. Let’s speak Truth and Life to our lives and the situations we face.
We don’t have to live passive lives, just taking whatever that comes at us. We don’t have to just passively settle for a negative report in any area of our lives. For example, if you have received a negative health report, speak back to your body. Meditate on healing scriptures, which are Truth. God’s Word trumps every other word and report, so believe it and meditate on it and then speak it. Continually speak it. When you speak, you hear Truth, and then faith comes. Romans tells us that. Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing. So speak and keep speaking the Word. Your faith will rise up and be so strong that it takes hold of the promise of Truth and pulls it into your present.
Unfortunately, I believe that reports in the world are more and more consistently and at closer intervals, screaming something that is a lie, a distortion or Truth, and something that the enemy very much wants us to listen to and believe. When we listen to these reports, we are hearing and we can inadvertently put faith in those reports because faith comes by hearing. We can hear the lie of the enemy and we can put our faith in anxiety and fear. On the contrary, we can hear the voice of Truth and we can put our faith in Jesus alone. It is only when we put our faith in Jesus alone that we truly live and live victoriously. Jesus is the Word. He never lies. It is impossible for Him to lie. This is a promise we have and our exceeding great comfort. We aren’t just plopped down carelessly on planet earth without the resource (or SOURCE) to live a victorious life. We have Jesus, the author of our faith and He truly is the finisher and perfector of our faith.
When you find yourself with a dream yet unfulfilled or a situation you’re facing that looks impossible, look to Jesus. Fasten your gaze onto Him. Look to the Word. Speak the Word. Hear the Word. Like the young mother I heard so lovingly and patiently instructing her child, we need to follow the same sage and vital advice to succeed: “Use Your Words!” Based On Faith.
